Almighty God, we make our earnest prayer that thou wilt keep the United States in Thy holy protection, that thou wilt incline the hearts of the citizen to cultivate a spirit of subordination and obedience to government and entertain a brotherly affection and love for one another and for their fellow citizens of the United States at large.
And finally that thou wilt most graciously be pleased to dispose us all to do justice, to love mercy and demean ourselves with that charity, humility and pacific temper of mind which were the characteristics of the divine author of our blessed religion, without a humble imitation of whose example in these things we can never hope to be a happy nation. Grant our supplications, we beseech thee, Amen.

New Parish Manager for Sacred Heart Parish – Spring Grove

Dr. Stephen Dietrich, Sr. was recently selected and appointed by Father Bateman as the new parish manager for Sacred Heart parish in Spring Grove, effective July 1, 2025.  Stephen will be working closely with Deacon Tom Ballinger and our pastor Father Kelley as a part-time diocesan employee at the Sacred Heart parish center office.  His initial role will be to assist with coordination of activities at Sacred Heart parish as part of a gradual transition, to resume some services that are currently handled through our Saint Patrick parish office back to being handled more locally through our Sacred Heart parish office.
Stephen and his wife Mary Jean have been parishioners at Saint Patrick parish in York since 1995.  They have 5 sons and 9 grandchildren.  Stephen recently retired from his medical career as a physician with WellSpan Health and has been participating in the formation training program to become a Permanent Deacon within the Diocese of Harrisburg.   He is currently completing year # 4 of the 5-year formation program, and will be serving our parishes as an Acolyte until ordination, which is scheduled for September of 2026.
Stephen wants to share the following comparison of callings:  “My professional focus for years has been on assisting people with their physical health needs; now my vocation involves learning from the Great Physician how to assist people in their spiritual lives.  I am truly blessed to be provided with this opportunity, and I look forward to getting to know well, and work with in common purpose, our Sacred Heart parishioners, as Father Kelley proclaims, for the glory of God and the salvation of souls!”

Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish Goal:
$25,916. So far 58 of the 180 families of our parish have made their gift/pledge, collecting $21,138 toward our parish goal. We’re almost there! If each family gave $175, we would meet & exceed our goal. Won’t you join them to support the work of the Diocesan Church?
